OAK: Aged for two years in 20% new French oak and 80% five year old American oak

WINEMAKING: Grapes were crushed and de-stemmed, fermented on skins for 9 days and plunged 3 times a day for maximum extraction of colour and flavour. Some of the fruit from Block 4 was set aside for a long snooze in brand new French oak barrels and rest in five year old American oak.

AREA: Southern Adelaide Hills, so close to McLaren Vale we can hear ‘A Day On The Green’

These are our best barrels selected for their intensity of flavour and varietal expression. This release is another complex lifted beast on the nose… Intense black and blue fruits comfortably dominate the new oak which remains in the background giving this wine great complexity, richness, body and length. This wine is a wild young thing and demands decanting for an hour or so. For those with more patience it will see improvement beyond 10-15 years in the cellar.
