It’s time to #supportlocal

There has never been a more important time to support local businesses.

A global pandemic, devastating floods in QLD and NSW, lurching Chinese tariffs and the war in Ukraine – we’re facing humanitarian crises and economic disaster.

Small businesses in Australia are struggling to survive.  Many have already closed the doors on their business, and their dreams, for good.

Across Australia, the cost of living is rising rapidly. House prices have surged at their fastest pace in 20 years, interest rates are tipped to increase substantially, and the prices of petrol and groceries are already at an all-time high. We’re all feeling it.

For small businesses, we’re feeling the pinch in other ways too. Retailers and distributors are putting the squeeze on margins, staffing shortages are crippling, and the cost of shipping and exporting products is spiralling out of control. We’re relying on local customers to survive.

We’re not asking that you spend more. We’re not looking for charity.

What we’re asking is that if you have a favourite coffee shop, hair salon, or butcher – pay them a visit.  If you’re working from home at the moment - take the time to get down to your local high street or farmer’s market and check out South Australia’s amazing meats, cheeses and veggies. When shopping online - use Google to find and buy from local businesses. Maybe grab a bottle of wine for inspiration!

Know that every little helps.

When you buy from small business owners you are making dreams possible.  In the current market, you may well be keeping the lights on and putting food on their tables.

They say you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone – don’t let that be your local favourite!

Do you have a favourite local shop, service or producer?  Tag them in the comments and share your reviews – let’s get some support for local businesses going!
